◦ Hobbiton™ Movie Set Guided Tour: Begin your action packed day at the famous ‘Hobbiton’. On arrival at Shire’s Rest you embark on your Hobbiton movie set tour. This location is the largest “green set” in the world and a beautiful natural setting. You’ll see 44 hobbit holes, the Mill and double arch bridge, the party tree, and the Green Dragon Inn. At this stunning location you can take a photo at the door of Bilbo’s house, “Bag End”, looking out over the whole set to the hills in the distance. Be treated to a delicious Hobbiton-style themed buffet lunch, fit for a hobbit, at the Shire Party Marquee.

• Visit Te Puia Thermal Reserve + Rainbow Springs + Agrodome Farm Show
◦ Te Puia Thermal Reserve: You’ll need at least half a day to fully experience the quintessential New Zealand offerings of Te Puia. Set on 60 hectares of geothermal valley, there are several natural features to see, most notably the famous Pohutu Geyser, which is the largest active geyser in the whole of the Southern Hemisphere! There are also other geysers, mud pools and steam vents to sight for those fascinated by geothermal activity. The other main feature of Te Puia is the rich Maori culture; here you can learn about their history, culture and art forms with live demonstrations of wood carving and weaving. The Maori people are the traditional inhabitants of this land, so understanding their history is important for any visitor of New Zealand. Finally, if you haven’t been able to see any of the iconic kiwi birds yet, there are two cuddly kiwis who call Te Puia home, so make sure to stop by the Kiwi House to get a glimpse of one of these nocturnal locals.
◦ Rainbow Springs: It is your one stop wildlife haven to encounter native New Zealand animals in Rotorua. Set among native flora and rainforest, navigate between the colourful bird aviaries to the reptiles and springs filled with trout. Catch one of the keepers talks where they will share personal characteristics they’ve picked up about each animal they’ve looked after. Of course you can’t miss your chan to see the iconic kiwi bird which is a major feature of the Rainbow Springs Park. They’ve recently hatched their 1,500th kiwi inside the park, so make sure to learn about conservation efforts and these cuddly creatures.
◦ Agrodome Farm Show: Just a 10-minutes’ drive from the heart of Rotorua will take you to the 350 acres of Agrodome Farm. As a fully working farm, it is equipped with all the farm animals, orchards, and olive groves imagined on a typical New Zealand farm. You’ll even have the chance to pet and take pictures with cute baby farm animals at the nursery or hand milk a cow for a true farm experience. Make sure to catch the daily Farm Show featuring a live sheep shearing demonstration which includes an introduction to the 19 different breeds of sheep. You can even participate in a sheep auction at the Agrodome Farm, will teach you all the basics of farm life.
